Clann na nGael Notes

Under 12 Team
Clann U-12s started their league campaign this year in April. This was after playing a number of games in preparation for the league. The club fielded 3 teams in the U-12 Spring league as all the games this year were 11 a-side. The teams were placed in Div 1, Div 3 and in Div 5 respectively. In Div 1 they played Castlerea, St. Brigid's, Padraig Pearses, Roscommon Gaels, Strokestown, St. Domnick's and Boyle. In Div 3 they played St. Ciaran's, Western Gaels, Elphin, Michael Glaveys, St. Faithleach's and St. Barry's and in Div 5 they had matches v St. Brigid's, Padraig Pearses, Roscommon Gaels, St. Faithleach's, Strokestown, St. Domnick's and Boyle.
All teams gave a very good account of themselves in the Spring league and as a result were placed in Div 1, Div 2 and Div 4 for the Summer League. In Div 1, Clann played Padraig Pearses, St. Brigid's, St. Domnic's, Roscommon Gaels and Strokestown. In Div 2, Clann played Michael Glaveys, St. Ciaran's, Shannon Gaels, Oran and St. Aidan's. In Div 4, Clann played St. Faithleach's, St. Michael's, St. Domnick's, Kilglass Gaels and Roscommon Gaels. Again all the teams competed very successfully in each Division.
In the last two weekends the finals of Div 1 and Div 4 were played with Clann winning both. This brought the year to an end on a high note for all the players who had put in a huge effort throughout the year and have improved as footballers. The club are proud of the effort, discipline and commitment shown by the players during the course of the season and we look forward to seeing them back in club colours again next season.
The club would also like to thank all the parents for bringing their lads to training and matches throughout the season.
Clann U-12 Panel 2011: Alex Francis, Conor Costello, Oisin Lennon, David Fortune, Tommy Bannon, Calum O’Brien, Seamus Henry, Conor Farrell, Ruairi Lenehan, Paul Mc Manus, Michael Hanley, Neill Macken, Sean Ryan, Aaron Wall, Michael Mc Manus, Oisin Rock, Liam Donnelly, Sean Seery, Jack Mc Manus, Michael Mc Manus, David Pettit, Dylan Sumner, Robert Hardiman, Eoghan Fallon, Darren Duff, Adam Harney, Colm Lynch, Tommy Griffin, Rory Forde, Coman Lennon, Micheal Griffin, Jason Conway, Anthony Kelly, Joseph Burke, Cian Griffin, Shane Macken and Jack Griffin.

U14 Ladies County Championship
Clann na nGael 0-6 Shannon Gaels 0-4
The Clann U14 Ladies regained their title as County Champions on Saturday evening in Kilbride.
Clann took on favourites Shannon Gaels, in a nail biting low scoring final. Great credit must go to both teams as the standard of football was of the highest order and both teams defences proving very difficult to break down.
Thanks to a brilliant save by goalie Ethel McManus near the end of the first half Clann went in at half time trailing Shannon Gaels by a single point. Clann captain Shauna Bannon provided two excellently taken points in the first half.
This was a battle to the end with Clann trailing for most of the game. But the Clann forwards never gave up and with 5 minutes remaining they drew level with a point from Therese Lennon. A further flourish of points taken under pressure by Therese Lennon and Caoimhe Lennon gave Clann the winning margin.
There were great performances all round with Clann defenders Leanne Ward, Sarah O’Sullivan and Lauren McDonnell shining on the day. Kayleigh Allen, Grainne O'Neill and Renee Naughton were relentless in defence against the constant attack of the Shannon Gaels forward line. The Clann forwards had a difficult day against a very efficient Shannon Gaels defence but it was the performance of wing forward Yvonne Harney that stood out.
Special mention must go to Clann midfielder Damilola Omotosho whose match winning performance at midfield kept Clann in the game during a difficult match.
Scorers: Shauna Bannon (2 pts), Therese Lennon (2 pts), Shauna Connell (1 pt) and Caoimhe Lennon (1 pt).

Table Quiz
The club are hosting a table quiz on Friday evening next next in Shines Bar at 9pm. The cost of a team of four will be €40. Your support will be greatly apreciated. You can contact Eithne O'Neill 086-3305417 for for details.
