Drum Apostolic Workers will hold their annual church gate collection this weekend, Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th July at Drum Church. Your support would be greatly appreciated.
Rosary at the Wakehouse
The Rosary will be said on Sunday 3rd August at 3pm at the Wakehouse in Nure, which is on the ancient funeral route from Ardkeenan to Clonmacnoise.
Sick Priests Fund
Annual collection for the Elphin Diocese Fund for sick and retired priests takes place next weekend Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd August. The priests of the diocese contribute, from their own income, most of what is required to support our sick and retired priests. However, the high age profile of our clergy in recent years has placed significant demands on the fund and you are asked to be as generous as your circumstances allow. Sincere thanks and blessings for your kind generosity.
Elphin Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock
Led by Bishop Kevin Doran takes place on Sunday 17th August, commencing at 2.30pm with the anointing of the sick in the Basilica followed by Mass, Blessed Sacrament and Rosary Procession at 3pm.
Monksland Summer Sports Camp
Takes place from 18th-22nd August at Monksland Football Pitches from 10am-1pm for children aged 5-13 years. Camp includes a wide variety of fun games, races, sports and activities. Athlone Samaritans would like to thank everyone who supported their recent church gate collection. Total collected was €388. Following on from the launch of Samaritans new free-to-call number, 116 123, Athlone Samaritans are hosting an Open Day from 11am to 4pm on Thursday 24th July for former volunteers and all members of the public who are interested in the work of the Samaritans or who would like to visit the centre. We look forward to meeting all who would like to join us for coffee.

Takes place from Thursday 14th – Sunday 17th August 2014 at the Cistercian College, Roscrea, Co. Tipperary. For young people aged 16-35, an opportunity not to be missed to experience the Catholic faith and meet many new people. This Festival has been nicknamed the 'Holy Oxygen' with over 1000 young people from all corners of Ireland attending last year. The festival is donation only. Barnardos Children’s Charity are looking for Team Leaders and Collectors to help coordinate collections for Barnardos throughout Roscommon on Friday September 19th and help raise €100,000 for disadvantaged children and their families in communities around Ireland. New Bishop of Elphin
Fr. Kevin Doran will be ordained Bishop of Elphin in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Sligo this Sunday 13th July at 5.30pm. The ceremony will be broadcast live on the Diocese of Elphin website and on Shannonside FM. We send our best wishes to Fr. Kevin as he begins his ministry as Shepherd of the flock in Elhpin diocese, and also to Bishop Christy Jones who is retiring after 20 years as Bishop of Elphin.
