It was now time for Clann to show what they were made off as they hit 1-4 in the closing 7 minutes, with the goal coming from a speculative Alan Dunne effort, and the points came from Alan Dunne, Cormac Harney and David Lennon. Clann na nGael Notes

Senior Championship
Clann na nGael 2-11 St Aidans 3-8
The Clann na nGael Athlone Springs senior team progressed to the County quarter final on Sunday with a draw against St Aidans in a perfect Johnstown. Clann needed a result to get out of the group and they went about it the right way with Donie Shine pointing early on, this was followed by a delicate chip from Cathal Shine into the Aidans net. Clanns whirlwind start was interrupted by 2 St Aidans points.
Points from Mark Shine and Donal Shine, and a solitary Aidan point had Clann leading by 3 points with 15 minutes gone. Aidans who were playing their first championship game needed a result, and they hit purple 1-1 patch to take the lead. Mark Shine brought parity to the game once again with a point, further points from Matt Scally and Enda Kenny had Clann to the fore again. Aidans hit back again with points, before Enda Kenny put Clann ahead with a point with half time approaching. Aidans launched one more attack to get a equaling point and they succeeded. So both team went in level at the break.
If Clann got an ideal start to the first half, then Aidans got the same start of the second half with a 1-1 scoring spree. Things could have been worse but for some fine saves from Ronan o Reilly. Clann settled again with Donie Shine scoring a cracking goal, which he followed u with another point to level the game for fifth time, the sixth time was to be crucial. Disaster struck for Clann with 5 minutes left when Aidans got which seemed to be the winning score when they found the back of the Clann net. Clann never panicked and Point from Enda Kenny, Darragh Lennon and Donie Shine ensured a share of the spoils.
Clann now go into the quarter finals, but whether we top the group depends on Aidans clash with Kilmore. Clann were well served bye all the players and they deserved a draw.
Team and scorers: Ronan O'Reilly, Mark Killian, Brian Goode, Denis Gavin, Darragh Shine, David Flynn, Oliver Harney, David Kelly, Colin Nicholson, Matt Scally 0-1, Mark Shine 0-2, Enda Kenny 0-3, Darragh Lennon 0-1, Cathal Shine 1-0, Donie Shine 1-4.
Subs: Daniel Qualter, Niall Shine, Cathal Duignan.
