Tax Relief Scheme for Donations to Eligible Charities

The parish is in the process of recovering tax on the Church contributions of P.A.Y.E. taxpayers for the years 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008.

For example, the parish can claim a rebate of €62.50 for a contribution of €250 per year made by a person on the standard rate (20%) . If the tax rate is 41% the rebate is €173.72. Donations of €300 give rebates of €75 or €208.

This is subject to the following conditions:
  • Contribution for the year must be €250 or more (this is the total of all collections through the envelopes - Sunday Offering, Mission, Trócaire, Peter's Pence, Support of Priests, etc)
  • Contributor has paid tax under PAYE
  • Donation was paid in money or cheque
  • Donation given as gift to the parish, without any benefit in return
In the coming weeks the parish will be writing to all PAYE taxpayers regarding the above.

Full details can be found on the Revenue website here.

Those taxable under self-assessment can also claim the rebate - again details available on the Revenue website.

Clann na nGael Notes

St. Stephen's Day Charity Match
Married 5 – 18 Singles 6 – 12
The Married lads made it 3 in a row when they defeated a very spirited Singles challenge. The Married lads were the better in a tough but fast flowing first half, and led by 8 points at the break.
The married extended their lead, but the fitness of the single lads took over. But some last ditch defending by Pat Greene kept the singles at bay. The Married hung on to be deserving winners.
After the match there was craic and ceoil for a few hours as the married celebrated and the singles nursed their broken pride. Music was provided by Bernard, Patrice and Amy Coyle, and they were by many other entertainers. Money raised from the day went to St Hilda’s services, and it was very much appreciated. Both teams would like to thank everyone who helped out on the day.
