Clann na nGael Notes

Club Social
The annual club night out will take place on Friday night at 8pm in the clubhouse. Friday night will be the first of many days and nights celebrating the 75th anniversary of Clann na nGael. Music will be provided by the Coyles and there will be many spot prizes. Admission is free. There will be finger food and lots of craic. Arrive early to avoid missing any surprises. The early bird catches the worm!

Competitive Action
Competitive action gets underway this coming weekend with the Junior A team hosting Western Gaels in the Tansey cup and the minors are taking on Boyle. Supporters are asked to keep an eye on the Roscommon fixture for time and dates of the above games.

Courses
  • Code of Ethics - Roscommon Sports Partnership are running a Code of Ethics course on Tuesday 1st March from 7-1opm in the VEC offices, Roscommon. Cost: €10 per person. Certificates will be awarded on the night. There are limited vacancies.
  • First Aid / Sports Injuries Course - This course is limited to 12-14 persons and runs for 6 hours on a Saturday costing €45-€50 per person. If there is sufficient numbers the County Board will run this course ASAP.
  • Grab Your Whistle - Can anyone interested in becoming a referee please put your name forward as soon as possible so that names can be given to County Board and a course may be organised.
  • Fundamentals Course (Ladies football) - Anybody interested in doing a fundamentals course in coaching, can you please put your name forward. There is a need to know numbers before course can be organised.
Could anyone interested in any of the above courses, please inform Cliona Dunning, Ladies Secretary (085167210 or e-mail cliona.dunning@hotmail.co.uk) as soon as possible, as places are limited and some courses will kick off as soon as there are sufficient numbers.

Under 16 Ladies
Under 16 ladies had a good start to the championship on Sunday 20th when they played Western Gaels at home. Clann came out winners on a scoreline of 4-12 to 2-6. Next game in two weeks time.

Ladies Gaelic for beginners/mums
Great turnout for Gaelic for mums/beginners on Wednesday night last. Continues this Wednesday at 8.30pm. New members welcome.

Clann na nGael Notes

Club Social
The annual club night out will taking place in the clubhouse on Friday night 25th February at 8pm. The Coyles will be performing on the night and it is important that all turn up early as 'the early bird catches the worm'. The annual club awards will be presented on the night. More details next week.

Ladies Presentation Night
The annual presentation night for players who represented Roscommon in 2010 will take place in The Abbey Hotel, Roscommon on Friday 18th February 2011 at 8pm. Presentations on the night will be made to Minor, U-16, U-14 teams and the U-12 panel. Special guests: Pat Quill, National President of The Ladies Gaelic Football Association; Seanie McDermott, Roscommon Senior Footballer; and Emer Casey, Ladies Intermediate Footballer. Join us for an enjoyable night in appreciation of our County Teams for 2010. Music By: Looney Hoppers. Light Refreshments served.

Club Lotto
Last week's numbers were 9, 12, 16, 24 and there was no winner of the jackpot. There were 11 'match 3' winners receiving €20 each. Next week's jackpot will be €10,600 and the draw will be in Shines Bar, Baylough.

Midland MOVE
Midland MOVE, a voluntary organisation affiliated to MOVE Ireland (Men Overcoming Violent Emotions), will be delivering a programme for men in the Midlands region. The programme will run for two hours per week starting on 22nd February in Athlone. Participation on this programme is voluntary and there is no charge. Clann na nGael Notes

Ladies AGM
The Clann na nGael Ladies AGM was held recently and the following officers were elected: Chairperson: Mary Keena; Vice Chairperson: Terry O'Neill; Secretary: Cliona Dunning; Assistant Secretary: Monica Lennon; ASAP Officer: Kathleen Doran O'Rourke; Insurance Officer: Marie Brady.

Gaelic 4 Mothers
Training is set to commence for "Gaelic 4 Mothers" and beginners welcome on Wednesday nights at 8.30 pm. All are welcome.

Club Membership
Patrons are reminded that membership is now due. Players who are not members are not allowed to play for the club, and the leagues are fast approaching, members are asked to pay Padraig Seery or any committee member.

Adult Training
Training has commenced for all adult players on Tuesday and Friday evenings in Johnstown at 8pm. Competitive games are coming up in the next few weeks.

County Minor Panel
The club would like to congratulate Ruaidhri McManus and Darragh Petit on being selected on the county minor panel. Well done lads.

U16 Training
The under 16 year will start this coming Thursday evening at 7.30pm. All players are asked to attend and new players are very welcome.

U14 Training
Training has commenced for the under 14 team on Tuesday evenings at 6.30pm.

Club Social
The club social is going ahead on February 25th in the Clubhouse. More details next week.

Childcare Course

Computer Training for Older People

Samaritan Annual Concert
Will be held in the Friary Church, Athlone on Thursday 10th February at 8pm. Featuring the Army Band of the 4th Western Brigade, soloist Simon Casey and St Peter's School Choir. Admission €10 and tickets are available at Musicworld and Castle Gift Shop.

World Day of the Sick
There will be a special mass for the sick with anointing in Ss. Peter & Paul's Church on Friday 11th February at 7.30pm. All welcome.

Clann na nGael Notes

Registration Evening
There will be a registration evening for adult members in the clubhouse on Friday evening next at 8pm. Players are asked to attend and register as members for the coming year. Players are reminded that you can't play if you don't pay.

Training
Training has commenced for the three adult teams in the club on Tuesday and Friday evening at 8 pm. All players are to attend as the leagues will be commencing shortly

Ladies Training
Circuit training commencing in the clubhouse at 7.30pm on Wednesday evening. All are welcome.

Club Lotto
