Meeting for Parents and Parishioners
Bishop Kevin Doran last week issued a Pastoral Letter, A Future Full of Hope, reflecting on the shared responsibility of parents, teachers and parishes for the faith education of children. The provision of Catholic education in the Athlone area west of the Shannon is of particular interest. Nishop Kevin will meet parishioners and parents on Monday 1st December in the Athlone Springs Hotel, Monksland, with tea/coffee at 7pm and the meeting commencing at 7.30pm sharp to finish no later than 9pm. All are welcome.

Drum I.C.A.
Monthly meeting on Tuesday 2nd December at 8.30pm in Drum Parish Hall. All members requested to attend.

Best Kept Cemetery
Congratulations to Drum Cemetery Voluntary Group who were awarded first place for best kept graveyard by Roscommon County Council for the second year in a row, in recognition of the great work that is carried out by the group along with the support of the community.

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul
Please support the SVP flag days and church gate collections taking place in Athlone over 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th December. All funds raised will be spent locally in this community helping those who need it most with food, heating and education costs.

Drum Remembrance Christmas Tree
A Christmas tree will be put in place in Drum Cemetery to remember all the deceased buried in our local graveyard. Ribbons will be placed on the tree on Sunday 7th December after the 10am mass. Ribbons cost €2 each and will be on sale after the weekend masses in Drum Church and from Drum Parish Office from the 17th November until the 7th December. A family in the parish is responsible for this fundraiser and all proceeds will be donated to Drum Cemetery Voluntary Group for the upkeep of the graveyard.

Indoor Christmas Market
Athlone Women’s Network will hold their 2nd Indoor Christmas Market on Saturday 6th December in St. Mary’s Hall, Northgate Street, Athlone from 11am-5pm. With over 20 stalls you are guaranteed to pick up a bargain or even a little something special for Christmas. Santa Claus and face painters will be making an appearance also. A social play skills group run by an experienced psychotherapist and play therapist is starting on Tuesday 18th November in Cornafulla Old School for children aged 6-8 and 9-11 years old. Offertory Envelopes
Boxes of envelope will be distributed to households in the Parish during the next fortnight. If you are new to the area or are not currently using envelopes and would like to contribute to the weekly Offertory Collection, please contact the Parish Office in Athlone 090-6492171 or Drum 090-6437125 to arrange a box of envelopes. A word of thanks is due to all those who help each year with the distribution of envelopes. This in itself is a huge task and if you would like to help in delivering envelopes in the areas that have no distributors, contact the Parish Office and your help would be greatly appreciated.

Sick Priests Fund
Annual collection for the Elphin Diocese Fund for sick and retired priests takes place next weekend Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd August. Corpus Christi Procession
Corpus Christi procession will take place in Drum on Sunday 22nd June after the 10am Mass. Fr. Michael invites the children who have received their First Holy Communion and Confirmation to take part in the procession. The tradition of the procession is that the children wear their Communion and Confirmation outfits. The procession will leave from the Church to the Reflection Area in the graveyard for some prayers and a short blessing, returning to the church for Benediction. Fr. Michael would appreciate your presence and support on this special occasion.

Lourdes Assisted Pilgrims Fund Annual Church Gate Collection

This year marks the 40th Anniversary of our pilgrimage to Lourdes. 64 assisted pilgrims will travel this year. The funds raised from the Church gate collection that will be used to defray the cost of this section of the pilgrimage.

Annual Mass at Drum Monastic Site - Sunday 15th June
All parishioners are invited to take part in the religious ceremonies in Drum on Sunday 15th June, commencing with a Rosary Procession from St. Brigid's Well at 3pm followed by concelebrated open-air Mass at 3.30pm at Drum Monastic Site. Canon Liam Devine will make a presentation to Recent parish centenarian Mrs. Kitty Seery of a special memento of the McManus Gathering held in Nure in 2013.

Simon Community Church Gate Collection
Midlands Simon Community is holding a church gate collection at St. Brigid's Church, Drum on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd June. Please show your support. All monies raised locally go towards homeless services in Westmeath.

Corpus Christi Procession
Corpus Christi procession will take place in Drum on Sunday 22nd June after the 10am Mass. Fr. Michael invites the children who have received their First Holy Communion and Confirmation to take part in the procession. The tradition of the procession is that the children wear their Communion and Confirmation outfits. The procession will leave from the Church to the Reflection Area in the graveyard for some prayers and a short blessing, returning to the church for Benediction. Fr. Michael would appreciate your presence and support on this special occasion.

Lourdes Assisted Pilgrims Fund Annual Church Gate Collection
Will be held inside Ss. Peter & Paul's Church on Saturday 14th & Sunday 15th June and at Drum & Clonown Churches on Saturday 28th & Sunday 29th June. Your support would be greatly appreciated.

Fighting Blindness - Thank You
Thank you to everyone who supported the church gate collection on 3rd-4th May. The collection in Drum raised €261.40 for Fighting Blindness, an Irish, patient-led organisation funding research into treatments and cures for blindness and is 90% funded by community fundraising. Your support is very much appreciated.

New Bishop
Congratulations to Fr. Kevin Doran who was this week announced as new Bishop of Elphin. Fr. Kevin is currently serving as Administrator of Donnybrook parish in the Archdiocese of Dublin. He will be ordained Bishop for the Diocese of Elphin later in the summer, following the retirement of Christy Jones, who has served as Bishop of Elphin for twenty years.
