Clann na nGael Club Notes

U-21 Championship
Clann na nGael 1-6 Padraig Pearses 1-6
The Clann na nGael under 21 team played their second game in the championship on Saturday last in Johnstown. Clann were very slow out the blocks and trailed 1-5 to 0-1 at the break. Things got worse after the restart as Pearses increased their lead to 8 points. Enough was enough for Clann as points from Cathal Shine, Donal Shine and James Keegan brought Clann to within a goal of our neighbours. Clann were now throwing everything at the Pearses defence and they were finally rewarded in injury when Daniel Qualter fisted the ball to the back of the Pearses net. Clann must play Pearses again on Saturday to see who progresses to the semi final.
Team and Scorers: Cathal Hannon, Cormac Harney, Colin Nicholson, Cathal Duignan, Seanie Walsh, David Flynn 0-1, Kevin Naughton, Donal Shine 0-3, Daniel Qualter 1-0, Ronan Killian, Darragh Lennon, Graham Petit, Ross Naughton, Cathal Shine 0-1, Neill Harney. Subs: Niall Lennon, Connor Jordan, James Keegan 0-1.

U-14 Blitz
The Clann na nGael under 14s took part in a blitz in Kiltoom over the past two Thursdays. Clann qualified for a place in the top group when they finished Runners up in a group featuring Padraig Pearses, St Aidans and Strokestown in the first week's blitz.
On Thursday last Clann were pitted in a group with Roscommon Gaels, St Brigids and Strokestown. The lads were very unlucky not to have topped the group. They played some fine football especially in the second week's games.
Players who took part: Aaron Shine, Ritchie McManus, Martin Costello, Shane Petit, Patrick Harney, Ultan Harney, Rian McNamara, Eoin Forde, Malcom O'Hanlon, Colin Meehan, David Kildea, Jack Connaugthon, Mark Shine, Cian Mc Manus, Cillian Bannon, David Connaughton.
