The Annual Club social was held recently in the Athlone Springs Hotel.. The crowd of over 300 people were welcomed by Ollie Colgan before tucking into the fine meal on offer. The Junior B team were presented with their county and Mid South medals. This was followed by honouring the 1984 Junior team along with the Senior teams of 1984, 1985 and 1986. The crowd was then entertained by informative speech by Micheal O’Muircheartaigh. Awards presented on the night were:
- Young Ladies Player of the Year: Rosa Shine
- Young Player of the Year: Cathal Duignan
- Club Person of the Year: PJ Brien
- Ladies Player of the year: Niamh Fallon
- Player of the Year: Joe Fallon
- Ray Fallon and Stevie Collins were also honoured for their work done for the club over a long period of time.
Tansey Cup
Clann na nGael 0-9 Fuerty 0-9
The Clann na nGael Junior A team got their first point in the Tansey Cup when they drew with Fuerty in Fuerty on Sunday last. Clann led at the break but they just couldn’t break away from their hosts, and the game ended in a draw.
