Sponsored Cycle for 75th Anniversary

On Friday evening last in the Athlone Springs Hotel, Clann na nGael and The Irish Motor Neurone Association launched a sponsored cycle from Croke Park to Johnstown to be held on Saturday 6th August. Plans were made to celebrate the club's 75th anniversary and it was decided that a cycle from Croke Park to Johnstown would be a fitting way to mark this occasion. As a committee we also thought that it would be good if we could help a worthy cause through our efforts and the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association was chosen as we noted its excellent work throughout the country. We hope to raise as much money as we can for IMNDA to aid their vital work in providing care to people suffering with Motor Neurone Disease and in raising awareness of the illness. We are also interested in getting as many volunteers as possible to help with the various aspects of the event and all efforts would be greatly appreciated. Sponsorship cards are available Alan Dunne and visit http://www.mycharity.ie/event/clannnagael/ to donate online.

Under 14
Clann na nGael under 14's continued their impressive form in the league on Thursday last with a win over St. Brigid's in Johnstown. Playing with a strong wind in the first half Clann registered some fine scores and built up a sizeable lead by half time. An early goal in the second half meant that Clann were able to hold off a comeback from St. Brigid's and cool heads in the latter stages meant that Clann ran out convincing winners. Many fine individual performances added to what was a great team effort.

Under 12
Clann na nGael under 12’s started their league campaign this year in early May. This was after playing a number of challenge games in preparation for the league. The club is fielding 3 teams in the league this year, in Divisons 1, 3 and 5 respectively as all leagues are 11 a-side. In Division 1 there have been matches against Castlerea, St. Bridgid's and Padraig Pearses. In Division 3 we have played St. Ciarán's, Western Gaels, Elphin and Michael Glavey's. In Division 5 we have had matches against St. Bridgid's and Padraig Pearses. So far the campaign in all Divisions has been successful and the players are showing good levels of skill and endeavour.
