Progressive 25 Card Game

Ardkeenan N.S. Open Evening

Drum Clonown Community Games
Swimming on Friday 1st march in Athlone Sports Centre at 6.15pm. Registration €2 per child at 5.45pm. All competitors are to be pool side at 6.10pm.

Parenting Talk
The Challenges and the Rewards of Parenting - talk by John Lonergan, retired Governor of Mountjoy Prison, on Tuesday 26th February 2013 at 8pm in Taughmaconnell Community Centre. Admission €8.

Lecture about Fallon Clan
The launch of the Fallon Clan Gathering and lecture by local historian William Gacquin on Wednesday 20th February at 8.30pm in Dysart Hall. Admission €5.

Community Employment Vacancies
St. Peter's Parish Community Employment Project have 2 vacancies which will be based with Monksland Tidy Towns Group. To apply, contact your the local FÁS office quoting reference number ES741488 before 1st March 2013.

Joint Parish Bingo
Every Sunday night at 8pm in the Dean Crowe Theatre and in St. Mary's Hall, Special bingo on Sunday 24th February with over €3,400 in prizes. Jackpot €1,000 must be won on the night.

Athlone Musical Society presents Oklahoma!
In the Dean Crowe Theatre from Saturday 2nd to Saturday 9th March at 8pm nightly, with matinee on Sunday 3rd at 4.30pm. Tickets from €11 to €19. For further details and bookings contact 090-6492129.

Lenten Prayer Groups
Every Tuesday during Lent at the following locations and times:
-Tearmon Micheál at 10.15am;
-Monksland Community Centre at 7pm;
-The Presbytery, Deerpark Road at 8pm.
Each Wednesday during Lent, The Rosary and Benediction will be offered after the evening mass in Drum for all who are sick in our parish.
Stations of the Cross every Wednesday morning during Lent at 9am in Ss. Peter & Paul's Church.

Trócaire Lenten Campaign
Envelopes containing Trócaire Fast Boxes are available at the back of the churches. Every home is asked to bring one and support Trócaire in helping people to make a living so that they can escape poverty.

Those who wish to host a station mass in their home this spring are invited to contact Drum Parish Office to book a date and time. The stations have been a tradition in the parish for generations and it would be lovely to see the tradition continue and restored for generations to come.

Clonown Community Site Project
Tenders are invited for the construction of the new community playing pitch and walking track at Clonown, Athlone, Co. Roscommon, as part of an application for funding from Roscommon LEADER Partnership (RIDC). The project has been published on the e-tenders procurement website, and the closing date for submission of replies is 17.00 on Monday 25 February 2013. All interested parties must register with www.etenders.gov.ie to get the full details. This project is subject to funding from Roscommon LEADER Partnership.

Drum Cemetery Voluntary Group
AGM will take place on Wednesday 20th February at 9pm in Drum Parish Hall (please note change on time). The group would like to acknowledge the amount of €800 in lieu of flowers for cemetery maintenance to the memory of the late Willie Kelly, Clonbulia.

Ash Wednesday and Lent

Ash Wednesday is a day of Fast and Abstinence and the beginning of the season of Lent. Each Wednesday during Lent, The Rosary and Benediction will be offered after mass in Drum for all who are sick in our parish.

Co. Roscommon VEC Adult Education Services
Free computer classes for absolute beginners at Involve Centre, Monksland (behind Pat McDonnell paints). Registration on Thursday 14th February at 7pm.

Clann na nGael Social
Annual social in Athlone Springs Hotel on Saturday 16th February. Tickets available from usual source or any committee member.

Missionaries
Fr. Brendan Dunning of the SMA Fathers will be visiting the parish on the 16th and 17th February. He will be speaking about their Missionary activities at all masses that weekend.

St. Blaise, Bishop and Martyr
The Feast of St. Blaise is falling on a Sunday (3rd February) and is not celebrated this year. However, blessing of throats will take place after Mass and also on Sunday evening at 6pm in Ss. Peter & Paul's Church.

Monthly meeting in Drum Community Centre on Tuesday 5th February at 8.30pm. All members requested to attend.

St. Aloysius Bowling Night
The Parents Association are having a bowling night in aid of St. Aloysius College on Friday 8th February starting at 7pm in Athlone Leisure World. Teams of four needed. Plenty of spot prizes and light refreshments on the night. All welcome especially past pupils and parents. Please contact 085-1745506 to enter your team or call on the night.
