Referendum Commission
The Referendum Commission is the independent body set up to explain the referendum proposals, promote public awareness and encourage people to vote in the upcoming Marriage Referendum and the Age of Presidential Candidates Referendum. The website refcom.ie is the central source of information on the two referendums. An Independent Guide is also being distributed to every home across the country.

Polling Day is Friday 22 May 2015. Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. Be informed. Be heard.

Athlone Meals on Wheels
They is considering extending its service to South Roscommon area. If you feel you qualify for this service please contact the manager at Athlone Meals on Wheels at 090-6494393 between 9am-12pm Monday to Friday for 2 weeks.

Clothes Collection
In Aid of The Irish Pilgrimage Trust “Caring For Children with Special Needs” In addition the Trust travels on pilgrimage annually to Lourdes at Easter with young people with special needs from all over Ireland. If you have any unwanted clothes you can support the charity by placing the clothing in a bag. Collection will take place on Sunday the Sunday 24th May at Drum Parish Hall from 10am–12 noon.

Progressive 25 Card Game
Proceeds to assist Charity Work on the Missions in Bolivia to be undertaken by local girl Catriona Harney and her friend. Takes place in Clann an nGael Club House, Johnstown on Monday 25th May at 9pm. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Numerous food hampers and other prizes on the night.

Roscommon Social Car Scheme
This is an organised form of transport where volunteer drivers give their time and use their own vehicles to provide transport for older people and people with disabilities who do not have their own transport attending doctors, hospitals appointments or collecting prescriptions. Training For Employment

South Roscommon Cycling Club
We are a recreational organization comprised of cycling enthusiasts with a wide range of abilities and interests. We have training rides leaving Clann na nGael clubhouse at 9 am every Sunday. These rides range from 20- 30km for beginners, to 70km-120km for the elite.​ ​Contact Joe 0868443408. Also, Tour de South Roscommon - annual charity cycle for members and non members of the South Roscommon Cycling Club. This years charity is Irish Pilgrimage Trust and ​the cycle will take place on Saturday 13th June, like us on ​F​acebook for more information.

Athletics will take place on Sunday 3rd May at 6pm at Clann na nGael pitches, Johnstown. Registration takes place from 5.30pm. Entry €2 per event per child. Darkness into Light

Total amount raised on the night was €1,664.

Diocesan Celebration of Marriages
Will be celebrated on Sunday 28th June at 3pm in Ss Peter's & Paul’s Church. Bishop Kevin Doran will be the main celebrant at the mass for the Jubilee of Marriages. Any couple wishing to take part in this celebration please contact the parish office by Friday 15th May so that the organising committee can finalise the arrangements for the couples and their families who wish to attend.

Did you know that 1 in 10 people in Ireland experience depression? If you are dealing with depression, stress or anxiety, come along to Athlone Support Group meeting every Thursday at 8pm in St. Kieran's Community Centre, Tormey Villas. The meeting is free and no referral or sign-up is required. You are not alone.

Carer required
A caring, responsible, flexible person is required in Athlone town to support people with Intellectual Disabilities. This is a very worthwhile & rewarding role which adds benefit to the lives of others. Accredited training will be provided. Eligibility criteria will apply. Irish Rural Link

Irish Rural Link hosts its annual conference, entitled the Future of Rural Towns and Villages, on Friday 1st May in the Grand Hotel, Moate, Co. Westmeath. The conference will hear from Minister for Rural Development Ann Phelan, Pat O’Callaghan (Ferbane Action Group), Peadar Casey (Ogonnelloe Project), Philip Geoghegan (Wicklow Uplands Council) as well as the latest research from NUIG students.

Moynalty, the winners of the 2013 Tidy Towns Competition will be giving advice on how you can improve the appearance of your area and make it a source of pride.

Also, Irish Rural Link in partnership with the Ulster Community Investment Trust are hosting a free seminar entitled Is Your Community Ready for Social Finance on Monday 27th April at 7.30 pm in the Irish Rural Link offices in Moate. The purpose of this seminar is to give groups a better understanding of the process involved in accessing social finance, leaving it easier for the lender to manage the assessment process and the group to better prepare their business case. Outdoor Stations of the Cross
On Good Friday 3rd April through the streets of Athlone starting at 12 noon from St. Mary's Church and finishing at Ss. Peter & Paul's Church.

Easter Bingo in Drum this Good Friday night
Drum Bingo will host an Easter special in Drum Community Centre on Good Friday night at 8.30pm. Doors open at 8pm. Usual cash prizes to be won, plus 24 Easter Eggs to be given away on the night. Monster raffle also. Everybody welcome.

Drum Clonown Community Games
Swimming will take place on Friday 3rd April at 6.15pm in Athlone Regional Sports Centre. Registration takes place at 5.45pm. Entry €2 per event per child. National Pilgrim Paths Day

Multiple Sclerosis Church Gate Collection
Will be held at Drum and Clonown churches on Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th April. Your support would be much appreciated.

Easter Envelopes and Easter Cards

Holy Week Chrism Mass
All are welcome to attend the Chrism Mass on Wednesday 1st April at 7.30pm in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Sligo. During the mass, Bishop Kevin Doran will bless the oils used in the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Holy Orders and the Sick, and the priests of the diocese will renew their commitment to priestly ministry. Light refreshments served afterwards in the Gillooly Hall.

Athlone Community Radio 88.4FM
Special recording about St. Brigid will be broadcast on Sunday 1st February at 3pm. The programme was made with the help of Drum Heritage Group, including Jimmy Moore, Anton Lennon, Vincent Curley, Joe Kelly, Mary Devine, Kitty Seery (weaver of the St Brigid's Cross) and the late Edward Egan. The presenter of 'The Faith' is Agnes Ingham.

Candlemas
Monday 2nd February is the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, when candles are blessed for use in the church and in the home throughout the year. If anyone would like to make a donation towards candles for use in the Church, envelopes will be provided at the back of the Church from next weekend.

Clann na nGael annual dinner dance
Annual dinner dance will take place on Saturday 7th February in Athlone Springs Hotel, Monksland commencing at 8.30pm. Music by Weightless Astronauts. Tickets available from Harney’s Post Office, Kennedy’s Monksland and committee members.

The AGM will take place on Monday 19th January at 8.30pm in Drum Parish Hall.
