Clann na nGael 2-11 Padraig Pearses 2-7
Clann got their league campaign off to a good start with a good win over Padraig Pearses on Friday last in Johnstown. The team played some promising football but for some poor finishing and wayward final passes, they could have wrapped the match up long before the final whistle. Instead there were nervous moments near the end after Steffi Carthy pulled a late goal back for Pearses. The scores were level at the break after some good scores from Tracey Keegan, Blana Gately, Maz Sweeney, Kathleen Doran-Rourke and Kim Finlass. An early second half point from Michelle Harney-Nolan was soon followed by a goal from Kathleen Doran-Rourke on 4 minutes. Two more points from Blana Gately and a goal from Maz Sweeney, after being set up by Michelle Keegan, put Clann in the driving seat. Clann had two more points from Maz Sweeney and Kathleen Doran-Rourke before Pearses late rally.
