Advent Prayers starting on Tuesday 2nd December at 7pm in Monksland Community Centre.

Meeting for Parents and Parishioners
Bishop Kevin Doran last week issued a Pastoral Letter, A Future Full of Hope, reflecting on the shared responsibility of parents, teachers and parishes for the faith education of children. The provision of Catholic education in the Athlone area west of the Shannon is of particular interest. Nishop Kevin will meet parishioners and parents on Monday 1st December in the Athlone Springs Hotel, Monksland, with tea/coffee at 7pm and the meeting commencing at 7.30pm sharp to finish no later than 9pm. All are welcome.

Drum I.C.A.
Monthly meeting on Tuesday 2nd December at 8.30pm in Drum Parish Hall. All members requested to attend.

Best Kept Cemetery
Congratulations to Drum Cemetery Voluntary Group who were awarded first place for best kept graveyard by Roscommon County Council for the second year in a row, in recognition of the great work that is carried out by the group along with the support of the community.

Society of Saint Vincent de Paul
Please support the SVP flag days and church gate collections taking place in Athlone over 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th December. All funds raised will be spent locally in this community helping those who need it most with food, heating and education costs.

Drum Remembrance Christmas Tree
A Christmas tree will be put in place in Drum Cemetery to remember all the deceased buried in our local graveyard. Ribbons will be placed on the tree on Sunday 7th December after the 10am mass. Ribbons cost €2 each and will be on sale after the weekend masses in Drum Church and from Drum Parish Office from the 17th November until the 7th December. A family in the parish is responsible for this fundraiser and all proceeds will be donated to Drum Cemetery Voluntary Group for the upkeep of the graveyard.

Holy Hour
The next Holy Hour in Drum will take place on Wednesday 17th December at 8pm.

Samaritans Christmas Concert
The Samaritans 23rd Annual Christmas Concert will be held in the Franciscan Friary Church, Athlone on Thursday, 11th December at 8pm. It will feature the Army Band, Baritone Simon Casey, Moate Community School, Athlone Pipe Band and the Compère on the night will be RTÉ's Cathal Murray. Tickets €12 available at Franciscan Friary, Castle Gift Shop, Cunninghams Chemists and Midland Sound Equipment. The Samaritans are available 24 hours a day on freephone 116 123 for anyone who is troubled, despairing or just needs to talk to someone in confidence or also by email to jo@samaritans.org

Indoor Christmas Market
Athlone Women’s Network will hold their 2nd Indoor Christmas Market on Saturday 6th December in St. Mary’s Hall, Northgate Street, Athlone from 11am-5pm. With over 20 stalls you are guaranteed to pick up a bargain or even a little something special for Christmas. Santa Claus and face painters will be making an appearance also.
