Annual Coffee Morning
The annual Hospice coffee mornings hosted by Drum I.C.A. (Drum Community Centre), Monksland Women's Group (Monksland Community Centre) and Delia Kilkenny (Monahan's) have again been very successful. Well done to the ladies concerned with the monies being lodged to the accounts of the Athlone and Mayo-Roscommon Hospices. The organisers wish to extend sincere thanks to all who came and supported this worthy cause.

Clonown Community Centre
It was a very happy day for the people of Clonown when a Mass and social evening was held to mark the refurbishment of their Community Centre. There was a great turnout for the event which was greatly enjoyed by all. A large number of priests concelebrated the Mass at the centre. The chief celebrant was Canon Liam Devine along with Fr. John Coughlan (curate, Clonown), Fr. Denis Gavin, Fr. Larry Shine, Fr. Eamon Kelly and Canon Paddy Murray. After Mass the congregation was addressed by Chairperson of the committee, Michael Fallon, who thanked all concerned for their hard work and commitment. A presentation was made by Padraig Harney, Hall Supervisor, to Fr. Eamon Kelly who travelled so many times to say Mass for the area.

Monksland Community Centre
Masses for the Monksland and surrounding areas have commenced again for the winter. A large crowd participated in a mass held on Thursday 23rd October. The celebrant was Fr. John McManus who thanked the hardworking committee who every month give of their time to prepare for this monthly mass. November will be a Mass for the Holy Souls at which parishoners can name their deceased relatives and frineds in a special rememberance book.
