Crannagh Gaeltacht
Did you know that a large area of Drum was once part of the Gaeltacht? And not that long ago either! When the Gaeltacht was established after the first report of Comisiún na Gaeltachta in 1926, Crannagh was one of seven areas in county Roscommon qualified as Gaeltacht areas (i.e. 25%+ Irish speaking). Very little is known about the history of the Crannagh Gaeltacht. We would very much appreciate any help or information that anybody can offer us in relation to this. Indeed, if anybody is interested in using their Irish, or developing it further, we would love to hear from you. More information and contact details are available on the Drum website http://www.drum.ie and the site is also available in Irish at http://pobal.drum.ie
