Clann na nGael Ladies Notes

U-14 Division 1 Championship Semi-Final
Clann na nGael Lions 6-8 St Brigids 1-8
The 'Thomas Nolan & Co, Taxation Consultants' sponsored Clann U-14 girls qualified for the county final on next Saturday 10th after a hard fought victory over near neighbours St Brigids in Kiltoom on Friday last. Despite the scoreline this match was in doubt until the last ten minutes when Clann pulled away from their opponents with a flurry of scores. Clann played against the wind in the first half and needed two goals from Saoirse McManus and Shauna Bannon to leave the sides level at the break. Some excellent points from Kayleigh Dunning and Orla O’Neill put Clann ahead before Ciara Quinn struck with a decisive 1-1 which gave Clann breathing space. St Brigids hit back with a goal of their own but Clann’s class shone true with further goals from Saoirse McManus, Ashley-Rose Coyle and Orlagh O’Neill. In order to retain the U-14 title Clann must defeat St Ciarans who already beat Clann in the Feile Final this year.
Team: Orla Ward, Sarah O’Sullivan, Ciara Costello, Aoibhin Golden, Aoibheann Curley, Marissa Murray, Aileen McEvilly, Orlagh O’Neill 1-2, Ciara Galvin 0-1, Ciara Quinn 1-1, Kayleigh Dunning 0-3, Ashley-Rose Coyle 1-0, Shauna Bannon 1-0, Saoirse McManus 2-1, Ruth McManus. Subs: Hazel Menton, Lola Omotosho, Kirsty Warby, Ciara Connaughton, Rebecca Naughton.

U-14 Division 3B Semi-Final
Best of luck to the Clann na nGael Cubs who play Shannon Gaels today Tuesday 6th October in their U-14 semi-final in Kilbride at 6pm. If they win the girls will face Kilglass Gaels in the final next Saturday.
There will be a total of five U-14 Ladies Finals taken place on Saturday and it's unfortunate they will be clashing with the U12 and Junior Finals but have been fixed for that date for a number of weeks, and can't be moved to Sunday as there is a round of minor matches on. Times and venues of these will not be confirmed until the last of the semi-finals are decided on Wednesday.

Minor Division 1 Championship
Clann na nGael Lions 2-10 St Brigids 0-6
Clann commenced the minor championship with victory over St Brigids in Johnstown on Sunday last. Early points from Michelle Harney-Nolan and Blana Gately put Clann ahead before an Aoife McManus point and a Blana Gately penalty left Clann leading 1-5 to 0-3 at the break. St Brigids closed the gap to three points within 15 minutes to go put they failed to score again as Michelle Harney-Nolan scored a goal and an Anna Shine point put 7 between the sides. A couple excellent scores from Blana Gately saw Clann safely home. The defence as a whole played excellently while the dual between St Brigids full forward Rebecca Joyce and Rosa Shine being one of the highlights of the game.
Team: Caroline O’Neill, Caoimhe McManus, Rosa Shine, Shauna Irwin, Katie Rock, Deirdre O’Neill, Clodagh Rock, Martina O’Brien, Gillian Wall, Ciava Dunning, Kimberley Finlass, Blana Gately 1-4, Katie Ward, Michelle Harney-Nolan 1-4, Aoife McManus 0-1. Subs: Anna Shine 0-1, Sorcha McManus, Ellen Harney, Aisling Lennon.

U-8 Blitz
An U-8 girls Blitz was held in Woodmount on Saturday morning last. Clann played matches against St Brigids, Four Roads and the host club in what was a very enjoyable experience. Congratulations to Padraig Pearses who ran the Blitz in a highly organised fashion along with supplying hot food to all the parents and players. Very much appreciated.
