Roscommon Strategic Plan 2010 -2015: Games Schedule
The committee tasked with bringing forward proposals in relation to the Games programme of GAA matches in County Roscommon would like to hear from interested parties as regards the current games programme in the county. In particular any views you may have in how the programme of games can be improved. All grades of competitions are covered by the review from under 12 level to senior in both Football and Hurling.
Your views should be with the committee no later than the 8th. September next. Comments may be sent by post to the County Board Office ,5/6 Castle View, Roscommon or by e-mail to Pat Finneran at clonagh@ireland.com or to the office at administrator.roscommon@gaa.ie.
U-14 Ladies Championship
The Clann Lions U-14 team team continued their 100% record in the competition with a two good victories over Strokestown and Four Roads and look certain to qualify for the semi-final with 3 rounds left. They play St Ciaran's in Johnstown next Sunday in what is a top of the table clash.
The Clann Cubs gave two credible performances against Elphin in Johnstown on Tuesday last where they were unlucky not to get a draw and away to Shannon Gaels on Friday where they performed very well in an entertaining game and showed they are improving with every outing. Clann play St Faithleachs in Ballyleague next Friday.
U-16 Ladies Blitz
Last Thursday evening the U-16 girls took part in a Development Blitz in Kiltoom against St Dominics, St Brigids, Four Roads and Padraig Pearses. Each match was 20 minutes with players compelled to use the weaker foot for the last 5 minutes of each match.Player got a chance to play in a variety of positions with all the Clann squad scoring on the evening.
Intermediate Ladies Semi-Final
The Intermediate Semi-Final against Oran will now be played on the week-end 12th/13th September with the winners playing Eire Og in the final.
The 2nd team qualified for the final of their competition with victories over Padraig Pearses, Strokestown and Kilbride. Tracey Keegan was the star of the show in Woodmount with a first half hat-trick giving Clann victory on a scoreline of 4-6 to 0-8. Next up was a trip to Strokestown where goals from goals from Aisling Lennon, Eileen Goode, Maz Sweeney, Keeva Dunning and Martina O'Brien secured a easy victory. The last group game against Kilbride in Johnstown resulted in 8 different players scoring with Gillian Wall leading the way with 4 points and the goals coming from Aisling Lennon, Martina OBrien and Keeva Dunning in a 3-15 to 1-4 victory.The now play Padraig Pearses in the final in a few weeks.
Senior Championship
Clann na nGael 1-12 Western Gaels 1-14
The Athlone Springs sponsored Clann na nGael senior team bowed out of the senior Championship on Saturday evening last, to a strong Western Gaels outfit in Hyde Park. This Clann team is improving and is a credit to the management team of Enon Gavin, Eamon Harney and Eamon Mc Manus Jnr.
