Race Night
The club are holding a race night in the Athlone Springs on October 9th. There are many races to sponsor and horses to be bought. If you are interested in any of the above options contact Liam Fallon or Mike Keena. More details next week.

Junior A Team
The Clann na nGael Kathleen Brennan Home Bakery Junior A team are now at the semi final stage of the championship after a 0-9 to 0-6 win over Oran in the Quarter final replay. They now face Ballinameen in the county semi final on Saturday evening at 4 pm in Fuerty.

Junior B Team
The Clann Junior B team are playing St Dominic's in the mid-south semi final on Saturday evening at 5.30pm in Fuerty. A large crowd is expected to come along and support both teams Saturday evening

Tormey Solicitors League
A large crowd gathered in Johnstown last Thursday night to witness a very exciting contest between Clann na nGael and Mountbellew in the Tormeys Solicitors under 10 'A' final. The final comprised of two matches between the clubs, with the combined score deciding the winner. Each club won a match, with Mountbellew just shading it on the aggregate score. It was a hugely enjoyable event, with parents and supporters from each club encouraging the admirable efforts from all the players. The range of skills on display was very impressive, with some wonderful point scoring for such young players. The idea behind the league is to encourage maximum participation with every player getting game time. Mountbellew had a squad of 22 players, with 28 representing Clann na nGael.
The normal GAA rules were slightly amended for this league. The GAA's "GO GAMES" concept was incorporated into the rules, which meant that the league fixtures involved small sided games, 2 points being awarded for an over the bar score and players restricted to two plays before they must release the ball. Great credit is due to all 50 players, who all showed a level of determination that will certainly stand to them in their future football careers. Clann na nGael's two captains for the day were Conor Costello and Eoghan Fallon.
In the Tormeys Solicitors league under 10 'C' Final held in Johnstown last Wednesday night, Padraig Pearses edged out Ballinasloe in another very exciting encounter in Johnstown. The 'B' final between Athlone and Caltra will take place shortly, with a further thrilling encounter anticipated.

St Dominic's Tournament
Clann na nGael were delighted to take up their annual invitation to the Knockcroghery Fair under 10 tournament, which took place in St Dominic's on Saturday the 19th September. After two great games against Kilbride and St Ciarans, captain for the day David Fortune lifted the Killian Cup for Clann. It was, once again, an excellently run event and great tribute is due to Gabriel Martin and everyone at St Dominics for their efforts. Clann played very well in the semi final and final to clinch the coveted cup. The hard fought victory was a testament to the effort and commitment shown by the players throughout the season. The first half of the final proved to be a close affair and the match was in the balance at half time. A great defensive display, with a strong midfield effort and some clinical finishing by the forwards, insured that as the match moved to a climax, Clann pulled away to clinch a great win.
